Crossing the road in
India was always a confusing event, even in some of the smaller cities.
This was probably in Jaipur, in Rajasthan; the desert region of north
west India. Which accounts for the camel. But really it isn't easy to account
for the presence of a lot of things you find in India, and you slowly
learn to accept them all with same slightly cool tolerance that the locals
possess. Whether you are nudged by a bus, blocked by a cow or challenged
by a beggar with two elbows on one arm, so that he's able to collapse and
expand it for you like an accordian, until you give him some money.
A lot will happen to you when you step out onto an Indian street.
